The Tops Spots To Have Insecticides Placed For Ants

Ants are pretty annoying. Not only do they eat your food, but they can also spread contamination. Once you have ants in your home, they can be tough to get rid of. The secret is to act quickly — as soon as you see a few ants. Either you or your pest control professional should apply insecticides to the following areas.

Along baseboards

Ants like to travel along baseboards because this is a space where they feel protected. They can often squeeze beneath the baseboards if they perceive a threat and want to get out of the room. For this reason, placing a line of insecticides along the baseboards in any room where you've seen ants is a good idea.

Near doors and windows

Examine each of your doors and windows. If any of them show any signs of deteriorating wood, gaps by the glass, wear in the weatherstripping, and so forth, place insecticides along that window or door. The ants may be using it as a pathway into your home.

By the trash cans

Place a little bit of insecticides near the outdoor trash can. It could be attracting ants, and then those ants may be migrating into your home. If there is a way to do so safely, you can also apply insecticides near indoor garbage cans. Of course, you need to make sure your trash cans have lids that latch on tightly, too, since this physically keeps the ants from reaching what's inside.

Near sink drains

If you have seen any ants near the sink drains, this is an important place to put some insecticides. Of course, these insecticides tend to get rinsed away if you place them directly in the sink. You may therefore want to have them applied around the perimeter of your sink. Or you could apply them beneath the sink; ants often come up into the sink this way.

By any holes

Are there any holes in your walls, perhaps to let various wires or pipes pass through? The ants use these openings as doorways. Placing insecticides near or within the holes will definitely kill a lot of ants as they pass by. Check for such holes on every level of your home. You may see them in your basement or attic, especially.

If applying insecticides in all these locations seems like a lot of work, remember you can hire an ant control company to do it for you. The secret, either way, is to act fast.
