What You Should Do If You Have Rats In Your Home

Mice may be tiny and cute, but if you have rats in your home, this is a whole other level of rodent. Rats are much bigger than a mouse, and they may be harder to trap. If you have mice in your home, those tiny traps that you can set out with peanut butter will do the trick, but rats may require a different type of trap, especially if you're dealing with larger rats. Larger rats may require a larger snap trap, or you may need to use a live trap depending on the size. If you have rats in your home, read on for a few things you can do.

Set Traps

Again, you're going to need to set some traps. Start with the larger rat snap traps and set out some bait that they may like. You can use peanut butter or some other type of bait if you prefer. Check the trap daily to see what type of rodent you have to deal with. If the trap didn't work or you notice a large rat running around with a trap attached to its tail, you need a different type of trap. A live trap may be best. Set a live trap in the area where you've seen rodent droppings and use bait inside to lure the rat inside. Once you've trapped the rat, you need to take it somewhere to set it free.  Rats will find their way back to your home, so you want to be sure to set them free far away from your home. Reset the trap in your home again, because you want to be sure you trap all of them.

Call A Pest Control Company

If you have rats in your home, they may be a bit more difficult to get rid of than mice due to their size. Talk to a pest control company about your pest problem and what you need to do to get rid of them. There may be holes or cracks in your home that these pests are using to get into your home, and these areas will need to be repaired. If you have something that is attracting these pests, you're going to need to do something about it as well. A pest control company can figure out all of these things to help prevent more rodents from coming in and to get rid of them.

If you have a pest problem in your home, whether they are rats or some other type of pest, call a pest control company to help get rid of them.
